Deodar Cedar - Cedrus deodara
Deodar cedar grows best in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny, somewhat dry location. Although it is very drought tolerant, this evergreen tree responds to supplemental water and mulching to conserve moisture. Deodar cedar is easy to transplant if root pruned. If grown too fast or in too much shade, it will loose its attractive form, becoming spindly and open. Terminal growth can be killed in severe winters....sustained temperatures below 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
